Detectives are interesting for data following a money in transit theft in Blackpool at the moment (Thursday, July 21).

We had been referred to as round 1.20pm to a report of an armed theft exterior the Co-Op retailer in Dickson Highway.

It was reported a person had assaulted a safety guard with a hammer, taking a money field, earlier than moving into an Audi automobile pushed by a second man and making off from the scene.

The safety guard was not critically injured.

An investigation is underway and enquiries ongoing.

Det Insp Steve Montgomery, of Blackpool Police, stated: “We’re eager to talk to witnesses after a money in transit theft in Blackpool at the moment.

“We’re very eager to talk to you in case you noticed what occurred or have any data which may help our enquiries.

“For those who had been within the Dickson Highway space round 1.15pm, or noticed the offenders making off from the scene, please get in contact.

“Moreover, in case you had been driving by and have dashboard mounted digicam footage, we’d urge you to contact us.”
